a boutique literary agency

agent profile: Dallas T. Negroponte

Dallas T. Negroponte has been in publishing for over 20 years. She started as an editorial assistant at a famous magazine, and her early work was noticed by copy editors at a major American publishing house, which first recruited her to the proverbial "mailroom," where she served as managerial liaison to mailroom union members, and then, over time, through a series of lateral transfers, she was repositioned in several paperback divisions. She was born in Brooklyn, but moved to Cleveland, Ohio, when she was three.

prior to joining The Corn Agency
Dallas has been involved with many people who have worked on projects, such as John "Stonewall" Jackson, Senator Scott Fields (R—Liberia), Jimmy Dean, David Dean, John Negroponte, Sally Negroponte, Steven Negroponte, Edison Scott, Nathaniel Hawthorne (for planned re-release of The Scarlet Letter in Canadian novelty gift-book market), Steve Maddox, John Fishburne, and Addison Negroponte.

what I'm looking for
Fiction: commercial women's fiction, "chick lit," women's light reading, romance (no supernatural) (both contemporary and historical), supernatural romantic humor, historical memoirs, psychological but ultimately helpful thrillers, suspense, humor. I love sassy Southern and/or British heroines, and subservient mousy heroines from other parts of the world. Also, stiff-necked heroes who know just what to say and when.

what I'm not looking for
Books that won't sell, books without a market, books that author doesn't believe should be featured on major daytime television talk shows.

how to contact me
Due to current work volume, I am not accepting contact at this time. When I do, I will announce it in this space. Please check back frequently.
